The state’s Returning Officer, Professor Mohammed Kabiru Faruk, said Abubakar got 654,934 votes to defeat his main challenger, Mohammed Auwal Jatau of the PDP who got 282,650 votes across the 20 local government areas of the state.
Abubakar won in 19 LGAs of the state while Jatau won only in Bogoro LGA where he polled 16,980 as against the APC which had 9,914 votes.
Prof. Faruk who is the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University in Kashere, Gombe State, also said the ACPN got 238 votes, AD 284, APGA 5,460, KOWA 938, MPPP 212, PDC 564, UPN 267and UPP 75 votes.
The APC won 28 of the 31 seats in the state House of Assembly, PDP won two seats while the PDM got one.
