Trainees from the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Company are undergoing MSc and PhD training on petroleum refinery zeolite catalyst technology development at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.
Chairman of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Chair in the university, Prof. Baba J. El-Yakubu said the trainees will earn MSc and PhD (Chemical Engineering) under the PTDF-Chair Laboratory.

Prof. El-Yakubu who introduced the first batch of the trainees to the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Kabiru Bala, said the training was at the instance of the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Company.
“The request was to train six members of their zeolite research team on petroleum refinery zeolite technology development with respect to the company’s residue Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit (rFCCU).
“This is an important development for both ABU and PTDF, as after the training, the candidates will form a pioneering zeolite research team at the company towards making Nigeria self-sufficient in the area of FCCU catalyst production.”
Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Bala, promised to do everything possible to create a long lasting relationship between the university and Dangote Refinery.
He urged all departments of the university to strive to create opportunities for research and development for the interest of the university and the country in general.
