The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), ABU Zaria chapter, has finally joined the four-week nationwide strike embarked upon by the national body of the union.
Daily Trust gathered that despite the national body’s directive for a total and comprehensive strike, lectures had continued to hold till Wednesday when the union held a congress and issued a circular.

In the circular, dated February 16, 2022, and jointly signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Haruna M. Jibril and Hussein A. Abdullahi, respectively, the ABU ASUU resolved to join the strike in totality.
Similarly, Bayero University Kano (BUK) chapter of ASUU has backed its national body as it embarks on a four-week warning strike embarked upon by Nigerian public universities.
But the BUK chapter of ASUU in a statement on Thursday and signed by its chairperson, Haruna Musa, and his secretary, Kabiru Haruna Isa, hailed the NEC’s decision and joined the strike.
ASUU-BUK also called on all its members in the university to down all tools and stay away from all administrative and academic activities throughout the period.
