The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ABU Zaria chapter has finally joined the four weeks nationwide strike embarked upon by the national body of the union.
Daily Trust gathered that despite the national body’s directive for a total and comprehensive strike, lectures had continued to hold till this Wednesday when the union held a Congress and issued a circular.

In the circular dated February 16 2022, and jointly signed by chairman and secretary, Haruna M. Jibril and Hussein A.Abdullahi respectively, they resolved to join the strike in totality.
The circular read in part “The ASUU-ABU branch in its Congress meetings of 16th February 2022, resolved to adopt and abide by the decision of ASUU-NEC at its meeting on 12th -13th February 2022 held at the University of Lagos to embark on the four-week total and comprehensive rolling strike action beginning from 13 February to 13th March 2022.”
Our correspondent reports that immediately after the release of the circular, students were seen packing their properties to go home.
