One of the contenders for the national chairmanship of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Adamawa State, Sunny Sylvester Moniedafe, has said the worsening crisis in the ruling party is due to the absence of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party.
Speaking with some stakeholders of the party on Wednesday in Abuja, as part of his consultations, Moniedafe said it was time to change the narrative and do things right for the progress of the party.
Our correspondent reports that, unlike the leading opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the APC has no BoT in place, which should be the conscience of the party and platform upon which grievances could be stemmed.
He said godfatherism will not work in the choice of the party’s national chairman at its next national convention, adding that the tradition where former governors and senators were given an upper hand in the scheme of things should be discouraged.
Other contenders for the APC national chairman are a former governor of Borno State, Sen Ali Modu Sheriff; former governor of Nasarawa State, Tanko Al-Makura; former governor of Benue State and current Minister of Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Sen George Akume; former governor of Gombe State, Danjuma Goje; former governor of Bauchi State, Isa Yuguda and former governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, among others.
