Players of Nigeria National League (NNL) club, Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS FC), were involved in a road accident on Monday.
The crash occurred along the Ilorin-Ogbomoso expressway.
The team was returning from Lagos when their bus collided with a trailer, resulting in damage to the vehicle including a shattered windscreen.
The Bukola Saraki Boys on their way back from Lagos following Wednesday’s encounter against Madiba FC where they lost 3-0.
Although no life was lost, some of the players and officials were injured.
The injured players are said to be currently receiving treatment at an unnamed hospital.
Tosh Michaels, Head of Media, ABS Ilorin FC, confirmed the incident on Monday.
He said a delegation of club officials, led by Director of Football, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, quickly responded and provided transportation to move the players from the scene to Ilorin.
“Medical attention was also provided to those with injuries.”
“The club expressed gratitude for the outpouring of concern and support from stakeholders following the incident”, he added.
