Mr. Jamiu Biodun Abiola, a son of late pro-democracy activist, late Kudirat Abiola, has lamented that those who rode to power on the struggle of his late mother, especially in the South West, have largely abandoned the family.

Daily Trust Saturday reports that Alhaja Kudirat Abiola popularly known as Kudirat Abiola, was assassinated on June 4, 1996 in Lagos, while leading a struggle for the release of her husband, late Moshood Abiola, also known as MKO Abiola.

Speaking on the 26th anniversary of the death of his mother, Jamiu said that things were “very bumpy” and that the present situation had made him sadder.

He said, “Look at my mother whom we are talking about. She was killed exactly 26 years ago and none of her children has been made a commissioner by those who rode to power through her struggle. However, I remain a fan of this government and I believe that things will pick up.”

Asked if he thinks his mother’s killers would ever be brought to book, he said, “I do not believe that most people are interested in finding her killers. There is so much mystery around this subject. Where is Rogers?”

He also said the only person that made some efforts in pursuing justice in his mother’s case was Vice President Yemi Osinbajo when he was the Attorney General of Lagos State.
