Abiodun decries industrial pollution, land degradation in Ogun

The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, has expressed concern over the significant environmental challenges facing the state, including industrial pollution and the degradation of land and vegetation.

Speaking at the 2024 World Environment Day celebration in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun emphasised the urgency of addressing these issues, especially in the industrial capital of Nigeria. He stressed the need for sustainable urban development and climate change resilience to achieve the Smart City agenda.

Represented by his deputy, Noimot Salako, the governor called for collaborative efforts among stakeholders to create resilient, livable and sustainable urban environments. He urged the prioritisation of initiatives aimed at mitigating environmental degradation and promoting sustainable development.
