The APC governorship candidate in Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has expressed confidence that Governor Ibikunle Amosun will support his candidacy at the start of the party’s campaign.
The governor had stiffly resisted, leading to crisis and defections from the party.
Abiodun spoke on Tuesday at his home town, Iperu-Remo, Ogun State where he formally announced his running mate, Engr Naimot Salako-Oyedele.
Abiodun said there still is enough time to end the crisis ahead of elections.
Daily Trust recalls that Abiodun had clinched the party’s ticket against Amosun’s anointed candidate, Adekunle Akinlade, who had joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) to pursue his ambition.
Amosun had categorically stated that he would not support any other gubernatorial candidate other than Akinlade in the next election.
And yet, Abiodun said he believed Amosun as “the leader of the party and APC governor” would be part of his campaign and raise his hand up as candidate during the flag off the campaign.
The oil magnate promised to build on “massive road infrastructure” which Amosun has started with a view to building “a more friendly state for the investors.”
