A Nigeria Professional Football League team, Abia Warriors of Umuahia have denied reaching an agreement with a Moroccan side Wydad Athletic Club of Casablanca on the transfer of forward Chisom Chikatara.

In a statement from the Nigerian Club, signed by its Media Officer Igwe Onuoha on Thursday, the Club noted that Wydad were yet to fulfill the transfer requirements of the player from Abia Warriors FC to Wydad.

According to the statement, "player Chisom Chilatara remains a bonafide player of Abia
Warriors FC, Umuahia."

Wydad had on Friday 1st of July 2016, announced the capture of the target man on their website, claiming that: "Wydad’s board of directors completed the entire procedure and the transaction of the transfer of the Nigerian Chisom Chikatara to Wydad AC.

"The money was successfully transferred after the club presented the certificate of transfer of the international player. The entire procedure was done according to the regulations and rules the club is accustomed to."

However, Abia Warriors said they have not received the purported transfer fee and have therefore, presented no certificate of transfer to Wydad Athletic in respect of the player in question.

"We also wish to confirm that our player Chisom Chikatara has not received any flight ticket to Casablanca or any where for that matter from Wydad Board of Directors as claimed by the club’s website," added the statement.

"The Board of Abia Warriors FC therefore states unequivocally here that player Chisom Chikatara remains our property regardless of the baseless claims of Wydad Athletic Club of Casablanca until otherwise stated by us," the statement concluded.
