The Abia State government has directed the immediate fixing of the deplorable state of the Umuahia- Ikot Ekpene federal road, which has become a death trap.
The governor of the state, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, according to the Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, has directed an indigenous company, PUMECO Construction Company to fix all the failed portion of the road.
The State Commissioner for Information, stated the government’s readiness to fix the failed portions of the road, so as to ease movement, particularly for the students of the two tertiary institutions in the area.
He appealed to the protesting students of Michael Okpara University, Umudike to exercise patience as the government has resolved to move into the failed portions of the Federal Road.
