The member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency, Chief Sam Onuigbo, has commissioned series of projects he attracted to the Federal Constituency.
The projects included three 300KVA Transformers at Ndoro Oboro in Ikwuano LGA, Agbama Olokoro in Umuahia South LGA, and Umuagungolori Obiohuru village in Umuahia North LGA; two three blocks of classrooms in Unuajata Olokoro Umuahia South, and Nsirimo in Umuahia South LGA; and streetlights at Ndoro Oboro, Ikwuano LGA.
Speaking during the commissioning, Rep. Onuigbo stated that he attracts projects based on his political ideology of EAR(Effectiveness, Accessibility, and Responsiveness). According to him:
“In choosing projects that we execute, my office has always paid attention to the direct requests of our people, and considering that resources are not infinite, we have always tried to address the most urgent ones with available funding.
“That was the spirit behind the erosion control works we did at Amachara Umuahia South and the Okwe-Obuohia Road, Ikwuano. It was also this spirit that led to the rehabilitation of the failed sections of the Umuahia-Ikwuano-Ikot Ekpene Federal road between 2016-2017, and the ongoing total reconstruction of the same road.
“Being responsive to the needs of our constituents was also what inspired the training and empowerment of 1,500 women and youths on how to run small businesses in November 2020, and the follow up training and setting up of about 100 small-holder poultry farmers in February this year. Indeed, it is the spirit behind the many projects we have been able to attract to this constituency and will continue to be the spirit behind all we do going forward,” he said.
The Honourable Member who pointed out that as soon as the implementation of the 2021 budget commences, his constituents will feel more, his commitment to being effective and responsive to their needs, stated that party affiliation does not in anyway affect the choice of beneficiaries of his projects and empowerment programmes saying that he was elected to be the Representative of the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency and not that of a select people.
Earlier, Sir Tony Ezebuiro, while speaking during the commissioning of the school block at Umuajata, commended Rep. Onuigbo for being a friend of the people of Olokoro and Umuahia South. He stated that Rep. Onuigbo has always been a responsive legislator who always touches base with his constituents and addresses needs to the best of his ability.
Sir Ezebuiro stated that the symbolic aspect of all was that the particular classroom block built and furnished by Onuigbo was his class when he was in primary school. He told the public that he has always known Rep. Onuigbo to be a project initiator in Olokoro and Unuahia South at large right from the beginning of his tenure at the Green Chambers and prayed that he will have the grace to do more for them because development is a continuous process. He urged all to learn from Rep Onuigbo’s non-discriminatory manner.
Speaking during the commissioning of the 300KVA transformer and streetlights at Ndoro, the Oru Development Union Federated Secretary Mr. Eze Onyekwere, thanked Rep. Onuigbo for extending the dividends of democracy to the people of Ndoro and pledged the continuous support of the people.
At Nsirimo, Rep. Onuigbo was welcomed at the palace of HRH Eze Ogbonna of Umunba Nsirimo. HRH Eze Ogbonna while speaking encouraged the Federal Lawmaker to continue with his known penchant for attracting projects to the constituency. In a similar vein, the Umuahia South LGA APC acting Chairman Hon. Ugochukwu Ibe expressed his gratitude to Rep. Onuigbo and prayed for grace for him to do more.
