Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has approved the appointment of Prof. Onyemachi Maxwell Ogbulu as the new Vice Chancellor of Abia State University with effect from December 1, 2020.
The appointment follows the formal presentation of the recommendation of the Governing Council led by Senator Adolphus Wabara, PhD, to the governor sequel to the expiration of the tenure of the incumbent Vice Chancellor, Prof. Uche Ikonne, on November 30, 2020.
Other nominees were Professor Martins U. Nwankwo, a Prof. of History and International Relations from Imo State University, and Prof. Iheanyichukwu Elekwa, a two-time Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration of the University and Professor of Bio-Chemistry.
The new vice chancelor, Prof. O. M. Ogbulu, is Professor of Finance and was until his appointment, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University.
