The PDP in Abia State has assured its members contesting for the 292 councillorship and 17 chairmanship positions during the forthcoming primary election of the party that the era of substituting names of candidates is over.
The chairman of the party, Chief Sam Onuigbo, who disclosed this, yesterday, at the party’s secretariat, said that the PDP was well positioned for the December 17 local government elections in the state.
“We want to inform our members that the local government elections, which the people of Abia have been yearning for, will take place as announced by the Abia State Electoral Commission,” he said.
“We have done our timetable for the party primaries and all the things necessary for the elections have been put in place. The forms are ready and aspirants are coming, we are returning the party to the grassroots.”
“Power belongs to the people; members will now elect those that will lead them from wards to council levels. We are going to adopt option A4 by which aspirants would be required at the primary polls to show their popularity.”
