Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has directed the Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Mr Nwobilor Ananaba, to urgently assess and restore the deteriorated structures and facilities at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) camp in Umunnato in Bende LGA.
The governor issued the directive after a meeting with an NYSC team led by the state’s Coordinator, Mrs Gladys Adama.
He expressed dismay over the dilapidated condition of the camp and instructed the commissioner to collaborate with the NYSC coordinator to transform the camp into a decent and safe environment.
The governor emphasised his administration’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of the people, including corps members serving in the state.

Mrs Adama highlighted the deteriorating state of the camp’s facilities, citing issues such as cracked walls, leaking roofs, fallen perimeter fence and the poor condition of the football pitch.
