The wife of Abia State Governor, Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu, has has built a block of 20 rooms space market stalls each with reticulated water supply at Ahiama Obete Ukwu Ibeme, Ahia Eke Amaude in Onicha Ngwa and another market stall in Umuohia, Ahiaba all in Obingwa Local Government Area of the state.

The purpose for building the market according to the first lade was to enhance business activities for traders and customers.

Mrs. Ikpeazu said her husband’s interest is to establish a marketing environment convenient for the women of Abia State; to support the economic wellbeing of their families, hence the empowerment given to local traders at every market built.

“We have provided grants through the AWADEC loan scheme as approved by the governor. This loan scheme is without interest but beneficiaries are expected to repay the loan so that others can access the fund” she said.

She therefore advised the women to make use of the facilities, take proper care of their health and ensure that their wards go for genotype test before getting married, to avoid bearing children with sickle cell disease.
