The councillor representing Umuaku ward 2 in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State, Onyekachi Agu Charles, on Monday, died in a road accident.
Charles, who was recently elected as a councillor on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lost his life when the vehicle he boarded from Enugu State was involved in an accident.
The late councillor was sworn-in by Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, on December 22 together with other elected officials.
The Chairman of Umunneochi LGA, Ifeanyi Madu, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, described Charles’ death as unfortunate and shocking.
