He described the announcement of the result as the first phase of the battle, saying they have lost the battle but not the war.
In a text message sent to his supporters, Ufomba said: “My dear brother, I think you should be one of the first to know, we may have lost the battle; it seems, but certainly, not the war.
“Be encouraged as we enter the most critical and result oriented stage of the struggle. We lost to insensitivity and highhandedness of APGA leadership. Thank you for the support.”
Dr Okezie Ikpeazu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was declared winner of the governorship election after the run-off poll last Saturday. He polled a total of 264,713 votes to beat his closest rival and APGA candidate, Dr Alex Otti who polled a total of 180,882 votes.
The result was announced by the state’s returning officer, Professor Benjamin Ozumba, at the INEC headquarters, Umuahia.
