Abia APC still intact, says Nwankpa

The All Progressives Congress (APC), in Abia State has claimed that the party is still intact.

Briefing the press at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia, the state Chairman, Hon Donatus Nwankpa, stated that the APC in Abia “is not quarrelling”, therefore there was no cause for alarm.

Reacting to the just concluded ward congress in Abia where the two factions of the party conducted a parallel ward congress, Hon Nwankpa said that the Caretaker Committee of the party, under the leadership of Hon Mai Mala Buni, was making efforts to resolve the issue.

He said a Court order had already been issued to the party in Abia, restraining the two factions in the state from accepting or acting on the purported list of successful candidates for the APC Ward congresses in Abia state, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

According to Nwankpa, the party is not quarrelling, rather they are only asking for a due process to be followed.

“Abia APC is intact. We did our congress according to laid down procedures. The Committee from Abuja ought to work with the Abia State Working Committee led by me.

“We are not against anyone testing his popularity, but let the due process be followed.

“Why the reoccurring parallel congress in Abia? It is because some people somewhere, sit inside a cooler, then during electoral processes, they spring out to heat up the polity,” Nwankpa stated.

Nwankpa further questioned the state chairmanship of the other faction, asking what process made him a state chairman?

“You must bid for a product before it is being given to you. You don’t take it by force. The same with power. We must be reasonable. The national caretaker committee is resolving this issue, we know justice will prevail,” he added.
