Abdulsalami meets Buhari, presents Atiku’s grievances

Members of the National Peace Committee ( NPC) led by a farmer head of state, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) have presented grievances of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar to president Muhammadu Buhari.

Daily Trust reports that the committee members, on Thursday, met with Atiku. They met with president Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja today.

In attendance at the meeting were the committee’s chairman, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, Bishop of Sokoto; Hassan Matthew Kukah and John Cardinal Onaiyekan.

Also at the meeting was the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole.

The meeting, held behind closed doors, lasted for an hour. It started around 3:pm and ended by 4:pm.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, General Abdulsalami said they had presented the grievances of Atiku to the president.

He said: “The Presidential election result has raised a lot of dust and the people feel aggrieved. Yesterday (Thursday) I met the PDP Presidential candidate and his party to ensure that this peace committee ensure that really, our concern is about Nigeria.

“And to listen to their grievances and what they think had gone wrong and we are here today to see his Excellency, the President, in order to relay the fears and concerns of the PDP and Mr. President listened to us and has taken note of what we have told him.

“Atiku presented his grievances and his observations. He did not present any conditions, he gave his complaints, which we have come to present and discuss with Mr. President to see what can be done.”
