The abductors of Dr Mahmoud Ahmed Aliyu, the District Head of Wawa in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, are yet to contact either his family or the palace five days after they whisked him away.
Dr Aliyu was abducted at his palace last Saturday around 9pm by bandits, who, sources said, accused the traditional ruler of supporting their killing by security operatives.

A palace source told Daily Trust that one of the kidnappers, a woman, who collected the monarch’s mobile phones during the attack, said they would investigate the alleged directive given by him to soldiers and other security operatives to kill them.
“They said security operatives were killing them, and that the Dodo of Wawa was in support of their killing. They were going to investigate him. If it is not true, they will release him. But if it is true, they were going to kill him.
“A woman among them was the one who packed his phones. Until now, they haven’t called anyone,” the source said.
Niger State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the abduction said a tactical police team and vigilantes in the area had been deployed to go after the criminals and rescue the traditional ruler.
