Abductors of the wife and househelp of a former Chief of Staff to the Benue State Governor, Terwase Orbunde, on Saturday, opened talks with the family, demanding N100 million ransom.
Orbunde, who was shot by the gunmen on Friday evening, while his wife and maid were abducted, is being treated at a hospital in Makurdi, the state capital.
He told his close associate, Tahav Agerzua, that the abductors spoke to him at about 8:30 am on Saturday.
Agerzua said the former Chief of Staff told him that his wife and maid (cook) were very calm when they spoke with him.

He revealed that during the attack which took place at about 6pm on Saturday, the gunmen said he should be prepared to send money to them and that if he failed to do that, they would kill his wife and cook.
Orbunde was attacked when he went to supervise work on his farm between Genocide Cemetery and Angus Memorial College, along Mobile Barracks-Welfare Quarters Road in Makurdi.
The former Chief of Staff was shot on the forearm while his wife and cook were taken to an unknown destination.
Police Spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation was ongoing.
