The DPO of Igarra Police Station in the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the State, Suleiman Muhammed, was in September shot by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on his way to Auchi from Igarra.
Ishaq was allegedly kidnapped at the weekend along the old Auchi-Ekperi- Agenebode road by gunmen.
It was gathered that the DPO was driving his private vehicle when the gunmen accosted him around Ise River and kidnap him.
Daily Trust learnt that the gunmen fired sporadic shots into the air which forced the officer to stop before dragging him into the bush.
A source said the kidnappers had made contact with some people, demanding N50 million ransom.
The command’s spokesperson could not be reached for comments as his mobile phone was switched off.
The state’s commissioner of Police, Philip Ogbadu, when contacted, said he is busy and will get back later.
But it was learnt that the anti-kidnapping and cybercrime units of the command have been deployed in the area with a view to rescuing the DPO unhurt.
