Abductors of Abuja chief slash ransom to N6m

The abductors of the traditional ruler of Bukpe community in Kwali Area Council of the FCT, His Royal Highness (HRH), Alhaji Hassan Shamidozhi, have slashed the N20 million ransom earlier demanded to N6 million.

Daily Trust had reported how the abductors directed the family of the chief to sell his house in order to raise N20m for them to set him free.

He was abducted last Wednesday alongside two residents of the community.

A family member of the chief, who preferred anonymity, confided in our reporter on the telephone on Tuesday that the kidnappers called on Monday at about 4 pm, and that after negotiation, they decided to slash the ransom from N20m to N6m.

However, the family member said they were still pleading with the abductors to accept N1m as that was the only money the family could raise.

On the abducted two other residents of Bukpe, a father and daughter, Ahmad Joel and Juliana Joel, the source said the kidnappers were insisting on collecting N4m before setting them free.

The spokesperson of the FCT police command, DSP Adeh Josephine, was yet to reply to an SMS to her phone over the ransom negotiation.
