Despite the escape of four out of the 11 farmers who were abducted at Achimbi and Gumanyi communities of Kuje Area Council of the FCT, their abductors are still demanding N25 million ransom.

City & crime had reported that kidnappers last Friday, abducted 11 farmers who were harvesting yam at the farms at gunpoint and whisked them away to their den.

“As God will have it, four among them escaped after their abductors slept off; you know, they normally take drugs and alcohol and smoke. The victims summoned courage and escaped,” he said.

According to him, the leader of the kidnappers had called one of the victims’ relations and demanded N25 million ransom before they would be set free.

“It was on Sunday. The kidnappers’ leader called through one of the victims’ phones and demanded the ransom, even as the families were still pleading with them to reduce the amount,” he said.

The spokeswoman of the FCT police command, SP Adeh Josephine, was yet to reply to a text message sent to her phone to confirm the escape of the four victims and the ransom demand as claimed by relations of the victims.
