Abductors demand N3m ransom to free lady kidnapped in lawyer’s car

Kidnappers of a visually impaired lady, Hannah Opeyemi, who was abducted in Soyoye, Abeokuta, Ogun State, have demanded a sum of N3million ransom.

She was kidnapped last Friday after men of the underworld attacked a lawyer, Sanni Boladale, and whisked away the lady who was in the car.

Another association of lawyers, Law Society of Nigeria, emerges

The lawyer was reportedly attacked in front of his house but escaped, but the kidnappers took the lady away.

Speaking from his hideout on Tuesday, Boladale revealed that the kidnappers had demanded for N10 million ransom before the release of the lady.

He said after some negotiation , the kidnappers reduced it to N3 million and insisted that without the ransom, the lady would not be released.

The lawyer said the lady’s family had pleaded with the kidnapers to consider N500,000 for the release of their daughter, but, they insisted on three million naira before they could release the lady.

He said, “she is actually the daughter of a friend. She needed assistance from me as she is visually impaired, so, I was to take her to UCH in Ibadan the following day. She was to sleep over and leave very early the next day because UCH is always a busy place to get a card and to see a doctor. That was why we had that arrangement.

“It happened at the gate to my house. I was opening the gate when they pounced on us so I had to meander my way in and close the gate behind me.

“After I escaped, they fired bullets into the house and made away with the lady in the car as she is visually impaired and unhealthy.”

The lawyer urged the government to come to the aid of the lady, pleading that she has been in the den of the kidnappers for too long considering her health condition.

“I want to plead to the government to help us on this issue. We want the governor to help secure the release of the lady.

“They are asking for N3m. When we told them to collect N500,000 they became angry and rained curses on me,” he said.
