Businessman and philanthropist, Aham Rochas, has condemned the incessant abduction of school children in Nigeria.

Speaking on the occasion of his 27th birthday celebration, which was a surprise ceremony organised by the staff of the Aham Rochas Group and some of its venture companies on the 1st March 2021 in Abuja, he touched on the recent cases of banditry and kidnappings of school children in the country.

According to him: “We cannot afford to be desensitized, tolerating the stack tragedies. Everyone has a role to play and we must all remain vigilant, and constantly pushing for change.

“To remain quiet about these is to normalize these events and accept its recurrence. Abduction of school children in Nigeria should not and cannot become a norm.”

He urged citizens to come together to fight a war that he believes is for everyone.

He noted that “to assume that it doesn’t affect you directly, and thus become silent about it, is a silly notion.

Aham Rochas added: “Every one of us has to get on the fight especially if it does not directly affect us.

“We cannot afford to have an attitude of it’s happening to ‘them’ and not ‘us’.

“That is where the spirit of patriotism lies and until we as Nigerians start to fight battles of injustice that do not affect us directly then injustice will prevail because injustice somewhere breeds injustice everywhere.”

He also joined in prayers for the families of the abducted Zamfara school girls, stressing that in these trying times in our nation’s history, it is important for Nigerians to bind together with love and unity.

Aham Rochas, who is the President of the Aham Rochas Foundation, is also a social activist and is actively involved in community development through the provision of quality education and training opportunities.
