Abducted Niger monarch regains freedom

Mahmoud Ahmed Aliyu, Dodo of Wawa in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State, who was abducted last week, has been freed.

Details of his release are still sketchy but Daily Trust learnt that his abductors released him after some discussions.

All the calls put to the palace to confirm if ransom was paid went unanswered.

A resident said the monarch retuned to the palace this evening.

“We have not sat with with him to get the details. But I can confirm to you that he has returned this evening,” he said.
