An abandoned, newly born baby has been discovered by personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) at Kandahar quarter Hadejia LGA of Jigawa State.
The NSCDC public relations officer, Adamu Shehu, disclosed this to journalists in Dutse, the state capital, on Monday.

He said when the NSCDC personnel got the information, they went to the place where they saw the baby by the roadside covered with leaves.
The baby was taken to the General Hospital in Hadejia, where a medical doctor confirmed it was dead.
The corpse was then handed over to the ward head of Kandahar, Malam Sani Afenza, for burial.
However, intelligence and investigation officers have been tasked by the State Commandant, Musa Alhaji Mala, to identify and apprehend the person(s) behind the despicable conduct for prosecution.
