Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja, the National Coordinator of NEPWHAN, Edward Ogenyi, said that the recent ruling would revert all the gains made in the HIV/AIDS response and spell serious catastrophe for persons living with the virus.
Daily Trust had reported that a high court sitting in Makurdi nullified the ban on the purported HIV cure vaccine produced by Dr Jeremiah Abalaka who had claimed to have a cure for HIV/AIDS.
According to him, the free services given to persons living with the HIV virus have suffered a severe blow because donors suddenly stopped paying for such services.
Also speaking, the National Secretary of NEPWHAN, Victor Omoshehin, noted that the ruling would not augur well for the health sector because most persons living with the virus might be deceived into receiving treatment from Abalaka.
Meanwhile, several CSO at the event called on the president to sign the anti-HIV/AIDS discrimination bill into law and also ensure uninterrupted access to HIV treatment and care to save the lives of persons living with the virus.
