The chairmanship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abaji Area Council, Abuja, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has appealed to his supporters to maintain peace during campaigns.
Speaking at the party’s zonal rally at Pandagi/Nuku wards of the council on Saturday, Ajiya also appealed to his supporters to avoid driving recklessly.
“I want to appeal to my supporters and party members to distance themselves from anything that may result to violence or trouble, especially from our opponents. What we are after is success, and by God’s grace, we shall emerge victorious at the poll,” he said.
The chairmanship candidate, therefore, promised that his administration would ensure transparency, equity and justice.
Also speaking, a former chairman of the council and chieftain of the APC, Alhaji Musa Yahaya Mohammed, declared his total support for the party’s candidate, saying 95 per cent of people from the rural areas are solidly behind him.
He advised Bassa residents of Nuku community to vote massively for the APC candidate and not allow themselves to be deceived by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
A member the PDP Elders Forum at Nuku, Mr. Musa Tanko and 37 others defected to APC during the rally.
