A season educationist and one of the leading Kano elders, Dr Habibu Gwarzo is dead.
He died at Malam Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) late Friday after a protracted illness.
It was however gathered that, during his teaching period; late Habibu Gwarzo taught many prominent Nigerian personalities such as Late General Sani Abacha and former Head of State General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.
He was a onetime member technical committee on privatization during the Babangida regime among several appointments he held.
He resigned from active teaching in 1965 and ventured into the private sector establishment in various places such as the Nigerian Mining Company in Jos, Northern Nigerian Tobacco Company among others.
According to one of his sons, Dr Ahmad Tijjani Habibu Gwarzo, his father left the private sector establishment and formed his own personal business firm, Jambo International which he handled till his death.
He added that, his late father has dedicated over 40 years of his life to Islam propagation and other Islamic activities.
Born in 1937, late Habibu Gawarzo died living behind a wife and eight children; he has since been buried according to Islamic rites at Tarauni cemetery.
