Super Falcons star Courtney Dike yesterday urged her teammates participating at the All Africa Games in Brazzaville Congo not to relent until they clinch the ultimate prize.
“Let’s go Super Falcons; you can do this #Gold at AAG 2015” the Oklahoma Ladies player who misses the tournament due to her academic pursuit and American Women Soccer league engagement wrote on twitter.
Falcons are set to face perennial rivals Cameroon in the semi-final of the women’s football event at the Brazzaville stadium this evening.
The Falcons, who suffered a shock loss in their final group game on Saturday to Cote d’Ivoire, finished second in their group and will now confront Cameroon who ‘luckily’ finished tops in Group A where all three teams were tied on points.
Nigeria beat Cameroon in the final of the last Africa Women Championships in Namibia in October 2014 and they will hope to do so again today as they chase the gold medal in Congo.
The indomitable lionesses who greatly impressed at the last FIFA World Cup in Canada is widely regarded as one of the most improved sides in women’s football but it remains to be seen whether they can cause an upset by defeating the reigning continental champions.
