The Bauchi Sate Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC) has declared the candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Yunusa Muhammad, as the winner of the councilorship election in Papa Ward.
Declaring the results on Saturday at the collation centre in Darazo, the Returning Officer, Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar, said the AAC candidate polled 1,156 votes to defeat his closest competitor and candidate of the rulling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ashiru Mohammad Papa, who polled 1,053 votes.

While the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Idris Mohammad, scored 290 votes to come third in the election.
“I Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar hereby certify that I am the returning officer of the Papa Ward councilorship election in Bauchi held on the 17th day of August, 2024. That Yunusa Muhammad of AAC having certified the requirement of law is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,”
he said.
