AA endorses APC candidate for Edo gov’ship poll

The Action Alliance (AA) governorship candidate for the upcoming September 21 election in Edo State, Prince Tom Iseghohi-Okojie, and his running mate, Deaconess Mabel Onaiwu, have announced their decision to form an alliance with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This decision, they said, stemmed from their disappointment with Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Prince Iseghohi-Okojie said after careful reflection, he believed that aligning with APC’s candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, was in the best interest of Edo people.

Speaking at a press conference in Benin, alongside his running mate, Iseghohi-Okojie directed his supporters to back Okpebholo in the upcoming election.

He noted that their decision was motivated by a desire to secure a brighter future for Edo State.

“The PDP had its chance but unfortunately failed to bring the progress our state needs.

“While I could continue my candidacy, it became clear that the best way to deliver change for Edo is to unite with a capable leader, and that leader is Senator Monday Okpebholo,” he said.

Iseghohi-Okojie praised Okpebholo’s leadership, describing him as thoughtful, strategic, and deeply connected to the people.

He emphasised that Okpebholo’s sincerity and commitment to improving the lives of Edo people were key factors in his decision to step down and join forces with the APC.

In response, APC Edo State chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, commended the AA candidates for their “patriotic stand,” expressing confidence that their support would drive the party to victory.
