A word of advice to party delegates

As the 2023 primary elections of all Nigeria’s political parties are around the corner, all eyes are now on the party delegates responsible for electing candidates for the general elections. The delegates are anticipated not to exchange their spirit of patriotism with envelopes of funds.

To begin with, Nigerians are completely flabbergasted by the recent fascinating rain of millions of naira at the secretariats of all Nigeria’s political parties, particularly the ruling party of the country, for purchasing nomination forms.

The rising storm of another episode of raining billions of naira, including foreign currencies during the upcoming primary elections is currently being forecasted in the country. However, it seems those delegates are now in high spirits as they are going to fill their bags with funds.

Since the rain of funds during the primaries is exorable, delegates should know that they will be culpable of and castigated by Nigerians for collecting aspirants’ funds. What Nigerians are looking forward to is to help throw their weight behind credible and competent politicians during the primaries and raise awareness because their votes are like a stepping-stone of salvaging Nigeria’s stumbling democracy and actualising much-needed competent leaders in the 2023 general elections.

Nigeria’s fate is currently being pinned on those political parties’ delegates to sieve the grains from husks gearing for the 2023 general elections.

The country is looking for such leaders whose spirits are imbued by the feeling of patriotism, analogous to the first and second republics. Nigeria’s political party delegates should keep their inclination aside and leave no stone unturned in emancipating the country from quandaries and future instability via voting for patriotic politicians that left behind absorbing track records of achievements, not those self-centered ones whose spirits are riddled with political parochialism.

Nigerians who are living around those delegates have a key role to play in drawing their attention and galvanising them to vote for credible candidates.

I, therefore, call on the entire delegates to know that Nigerians will not inveigh against them for collecting the money given to them by aspirants during primary elections. What they are appealing is for them to exhibit patriotism by voting for credible candidates. They are also expected to ensure that their votes count.
