Dear Bauchi youths, it’s time to wake up from your deep slumber and get involved in the state’s politics to change the narratives.
We are all aware that Bauchi State is one of the states whose citizens are very active in politics. We should, therefore, make all efforts to see that we maintain this by fully getting involved.

It is sad that many youths in the state are still aloof to politics. Youth participation in politics is one of the ways of developing a society and ensuring a vibrant citizenry.
We can only achieve this by joining political parties and contesting for positions in the party and other elective positions during elections.
Sadly, the situation is not so as political gladiators are using us to achieve their political goals and dump us soon after elections. Only few of us get appointed into insignificant positions in government.
For long, youths were being recruited by mischievous politicians to disrupt elections for their selfish interests. We are being used as thugs and made to fight each other.
During elections, we are engaged in various forms of crimes ranging from ballot box snatching, tampering with election results, disrupting election process among others.
It can be concluded that in the last 21 years of the nation’s uninterrupted democracy, Bauchi youths have in no way benefited from the so-called dividend of democracy.
Therefore, let’s tell ourselves the truth and start behaving like the ambassadors of today and leaders of tomorrow.
We should not continue to give them the chance to destroy our future and build theirs.
I want to use this opportunity to tell Bauchi youths that our destiny is in our hands. We are capable of changing the narrative the way we want it and we should always remember, youths are the backbone of every society.
Together we can move Bauchi State forward. We must always remember that the more we keep allowing them to mislead us, the more we will be neglected.
Ukasha Rabiu Magama, Toro LGA, Bauchi State.
