My main concern here is that most armed robberies are carried out by professional gun handlers. And who are these professionals? They are discharged policemen and military personnel.
The solution is that these uniformed people should not be dismissed from the force when they commit an offence, rather they should be sent to government farms.
These farms should be set up in all the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Reason for this is that the uniformed men so dismissed from the force have been trained in the art of handling assorted weapons, so allowing such an officer to go back into the society with all the experience acquired is dangerous.
This is, perhaps, why robberies abound in Nigeria. But if after committing an offence and they are quickly deployed to government farm, the public will be saved from the menace of robbery. I hope the Inspector General of Police Mike Okiro will heed this advice.
