A letter to Jigawa governor

I am writing to express my sincere appreciation and commendation for the remarkable efforts you have made to sanitize the health system in Jigawa State. Your diligent approach and commitment to improving the quality of healthcare services have not gone unnoticed by the residents of Jigawa State, and for that, I extend my heartfelt gratitude.

While acknowledging the progress made, I would like to offer a suggestion that I believe will further enhance the effectiveness of your efforts. You have toured almost six hospitals in the state and have seen the state of repair (or disrepair) they are in. You were also able to find out the level of implementation of the deferrals and exemption services, an age-long policy of the state to provide free maternal and child health, which you have shown your dismay on the noncompliance with the intents of the policy. This is essential to accurately gauge the prevailing circumstances within the healthcare system.

Furthermore, there are numerous issues surrounding the implementation of JICHMA, the DRF and so many other issues surrounding the health sector, which hold a very critical role in making the sector work again.

To achieve this, I will like to suggest engaging associations affiliated with health and critical staff members who work directly at the different medical facilities across the state. Their valuable insights and suggestions can provide a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and help identify targeted solutions. I propose that a representative sample of the critical staff be selected at random from hospitals, clinics, and health centers across Jigawa State. These groups possess the knowledge and firsthand experience of what is happening in the hospitals, which can be utilised to formulate practical solutions and strategies for improving the health sector.

I firmly believe that by embracing this inclusive approach, you will gather valuable insights that will positively impact the quality and accessibility of healthcare services in Jigawa State. Collaborating with critical staff members and healthcare associations will foster a sense of ownership and encourage a teamwork approach to improving the health sector.
