A 9-man joint committee has been set up by the governments of Akwa Ibom and Abia states to tackle the renewed boundary clash between Ikot Udo Ika in Ika local government area of Akwa Ibom and Akirika Obu Ndoki of Ukwa East of Abia State.
Speaking at a meeting in Ikot Udo Ika to resolve the issue, the Akwa Ibom State deputy governor Moses Ekpo said the step had become necessary following the receipt of complaint from his Abia State counterpart, Ude Okechukwu, that there had been an encroachment into their land as a result of a road construction.

In his remark, Ude Okechukwu said the road project cutting across the two neighbouring communities was a welcome development and should not result to a contentious border issue.
