Three suspects, including two private school guards, have been arrested by vigilantes for vandalising the electricity transformer on Okada Road, Dutsen-Kuran-Hausa area of Minna, Niger State capital.
Residents told City & Crime that the vandalised transformer powered street lights in the area.
One of the leaders in the community, who preferred anonymity, said the suspects were nabbed around 1:30am after they had successfully dismantled the transformer and were about to move them out of the area.
He said two of the suspects were discovered to be from the area and worked as security guards in a private school some meters away from the transformer.

The leader said, “They had successfully vandalised and removed the cables and the driver was about to move the items when vigilantes saw them and the driver zoomed off leaving the other suspects, who were immediately apprehended.
“We were told that the suspects would be handed over to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for further investigation and prosecution. That’s all I know.”
There was no immediate response from Wasiu Abiodun, the state police spokesman on the matter.
