Public schools and security challenges

Recently armed men invaded a school in Imo State while students were sitting for their WAEC exams. They fired shots and chased out the students and teachers.

In the North, we daily receive reports of bandits kidnapping  students and teachers and demanding  for ransom.

Many public schools in the country lack  perimeter fencing, security gates and trained security personnel to stop external intrusion into their premises.

The relevant authorities must wake up and ensure that our schools are conducive for learning.

The government should formulate policies and implement them to ensure our schools are secured. We should ensure that trained security personnel are posted to our schools to enhance security.
