Clerics call for citizens’ participation in national security

 

Islamic clerics have harped on the need for virile citizens participation to have a versatile and roboost national security and stability to engender tranquility in the nation devoid of all forms of insecurity.

They spoke at the 10th annual lecture of  The Muslim Congress (TMC), FCT Chapter, to commemorate Nigeria’s 61st independence anniversary held in Abuja.

The lecture is themed, “Insecurity and National Unity: The nation on Trial.”

The Amir of TMC, Alh. Abdulwaasi Taiwo Bangbala, in his opening speech, reiterated the need for all citizens to raise up to the occasion in tackling the spate of national insecurity headlong.

Ustadh Sa’ed Salman, Principal Assistant Registrar, Yaba College of Technology Lagos, identified tribalism as one of  the challenges facing the country, calling on all Nigerians to unite against insecurity. 

Dr. Kabiru Adamu, a Security Risk Management and Intelligence Expert, recalled how struggle for survival from different quarters and strata of the society has further contributed to all forms of insecurity ravaging the nation. 

The highlight of the event was an award to one of the recognized Muslim  personality, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
