Court remands man impersonating president’s aide, AGF brother

A chief magistrates’ court in Gyadi-Gyadi, Kano State has remanded one Abubakar Muhammad who paraded himself as a personal assistant to an aide of President Muhammadu Buhari, Alhaji Sabiu, aka Tunde.

The suspect was also accused of impersonating a younger brother to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Alhaji Abubakar Malami, to defraud his victims of N10 million.

The police prosecutor, A. A. Haruna, told the court that a letter of complaint was received from one Sanusi Shehu and Nasiru Muhammad that the suspect, a resident of Bachirawa quarters deceived them and collected about N10.5m from them with a promise to secure a federal government’s jobs for them.

The suspect pleaded not guilty to the charges of criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and cheating, which are contrary to sections 97, 312 and 322 of the Penal Code Law.

Chief Magistrate Mustapha Sa’ad Datti ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case till November 8.
