Motorcycle ban: Kaduna residents groan over transportation hardship

Residents of Kaduna metropolis have expressed displeasure over the three months ban on commercial and private motorcycles as government officials commence enforcement.

Daily Trust on Sunday reports that several motorcycles are being impounded by officials of the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA) while several residents have remained stranded within the metropolis due to limited buses and tricycles.

Kaduna State Government on Wednesday slammed additional security measures with the banning of both commercial and private motorcycles in the entire state for three months.

While announcing the new security measures, Aruwan had also announced restrictions on tricycle operation to 6am and 7pm and mandated them to remove their curtains.

However, our correspondent observed that several residents were stranded along the Ahmadu Bello way between Friday and Saturday as transportation hardship takes its toll on commuters in the metropolis.

“The buses are limited and tricycles are not allowed on Ahmadu Bello way which is one of the busiest roads in Kaduna city,” said a resident, Josephine Danladi.
