A forensic expert, Mrs Anike Ajayi-Kayode, the Executive Director of Cece Yara Foundation, on Tuesday, told an Ikeja sexual offences court how Olanrewaju James alias Baba Ijesha engaged a minor in sexual activities.

Mrs Ajayi-Kayode said the outcome of her investigation revealed that “the perpetrator engaged the child in sexual activities twice when she was seven years old.”

The witness who is a certified child forensic specialist told the court that she had participated in over 25 child forensic interviews.

She said Baba Ijesha’s victim was relaxed, cooperative and able to recall events.

She further told the court that the child told her that on the first occasion, her aggressor told her to remove her pant, sat her on his laps and rubbed his manhood on her body and instructed her not to tell anybody, and that on the second occasion which was on April 19, the perpetrator inserted his car keys into her vagina and also told her not to tell anybody.

The child expert told the court that the attributes exhibited by the defendant were the dynamics of child sexual abusers whose modus operandi included secrecy, intimidation and threat or coercion.

She said after interviewing the child, she conducted forensic investigation on her and wrote a report on her findings, adding that this had been compressed into a flash drive.

Thereafter, the prosecution, led by Mrs Olayinka Adeyemi, the Director Public Prosecution (DPP), sought the court’s permission to tender the flash drive and the report before the court and the court admitted in evidence the flash drive and the report as exhibits H and H1.

Marked exhibit G was the clinical presentation on the interview conducted with the survivor.

Justice Taiwo adjourned the case to October 20 and 21, for cross examination of the forensic expert by the defence.

Recall that Baba Ijesha was arraigned on June 24, charged with a six-count bordering on defilement of a minor.
