The internal conflict rocking the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State has assumed a different dimension after the ward executives rejected the decision to suspend two chieftains.
Party secretary Yusuf Moh’d Dikko had on Wednesday at a press conference announced the suspension of a former state chairman, Hon Zannah Gaddama Mustapha, and former governorship candidate, Mohammed Alkali Imam, for allegedly creating factions and hijacking congress forms among others.

The two men were also accused of refusing to obey the Supreme Court judgment of March 12, 2021, which affirmed Hon. Usman Mahadi Badeiri as state chairman and “hijacking congress forms meant to be handled by the chairman.
Few hours after the conference, where the suspension was announced, the Shehuri North Ward executives summoned another meeting where they expressed concern over party affairs and rejected the suspension of the chieftains.
The Ward Chairman Mohammed Nur and Secretary, Tahiru Abatcha who jointly headed the meeting, told journalists that the “suspension of Imam and Mustapha by one Dikko is null and void.”
