The North Central Zonal Campus of the National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), Makurdi, Benue State, has conducted hair weaving and shoe making skill acquisition and training program for youths and women in Pankshin, Kanke and Kanem Federal Constituency of Plateau State.
Spokesman of the institute, Ahmed Mohammed Sule, said on Saturday in Abuja that the training was conducted under the coordination of the zonal head of the campus, Mr. Michael Shakunga.

He said that this was part of its efforts to stimulate platforms for job creation and poverty eradication in the country.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training program, the Director General, NIHOTOUR, Alhaji Nura Sani Kangiwa, noted some of the socio-economic importance of travel tourism and hospitality, including job creation, income generation and poverty eradication.
Kangiwa said that the exercise is meant to offer the trainees the opportunity to be self-reliant and gainfully employed.
Kangiwa’s address which was read by the Coordinator and Head of the Makurdi Campus of the Institute, Mr. Shakunga, urged beneficiaries training to make judicious use of whatever they were taught and be useful to their immediate community in particular and the country at large.
Also, the Member Representing Pankshin, Kanke and Kanem Federal Constituency, Hon Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, expressed satisfaction with the exercise, which he said will impact positively on the people as well as bring development and progress to the constituency and Plateau State generally.
The Acting Chairman of Pankshin, Kanke and Kanem Joint Traditional Council, Da Fwangbring Mishkom Mupun, said the comfort and happiness of the subjects are always the concern of the traditional institution and so expressed his happiness over the training, saying it will provide gainful employment to the people and boost the economic activities of the area.
