Naval operatives attached to the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS), BEECROFT, have arrested 11 suspected pipeline vandals.
The suspects were arrested at Abagbo, a riverine community in Lagos while syphoning fuel from pipelines belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) that runs from Atlas Cove to Ejigbo and Mosimi depots in Lagos and Ogun states.

It said the suspects were arrested on Friday with 62 50-litre kegs and 18 25-litre kegs all fully loaded with petrol.
Speaking on the arrest while handing over the suspects to officials of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Commander, NNS BEECROFT, Commodore Bashir Mohammed, said the arrest was done by the command’s task force at Atlas Cove following a credible intelligence report relayed to the Base at about 3.45 am.
Commodore Mohammed said the patrol team of the Base swung into action, leading to the arrest of the vandals.
He said the team also impounded two-fibre boats with 175 HP each from the vandals.
He said a boat laden with 11 50-litre kegs of PMS were intercepted with five suspects.
“The arrest was made by the NNS BEECROFT patrol team on the same day during a routine harbor patrol at the creek around the Snake Island,’’ he said.
