A renowned Islamic cleric and the National Secretary General of the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah wa Iqamatus Sunnah, Sheikh Muhammad Kabiru Haruna Gombe, has threatened to file a legal suit against a former Commissioner of Works in Kano, Muaz Magaji, over alleged defamation of character.
Magaji was sacked in April, 2020, by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, over utterances interpreted as the mockery of Late Chief of staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari.

He had denied the allegation and has since been given another appointment by the governor.
But in a recent post on his verified Facebook account, the controversial ex-commissioner claimed that Sheikh Gombe had in a phone call conversation told Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State that he would decamp from the ruling APC if former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is allowed to join the party.
However, Sheikh Gombe debunked the claim, adding that he has no personal relationship with any public office holder.
He insisted that that what the ex-commissioner said was nothing but lies.
Gombe gave Muazu Magaji 12 hours to withdraw his claims or he would seek legal redress.
